We’re building a multi-tenant microservice platform, serving thousands of users and generating a turnover of one billion euros per year. The product is stable and allows us to focus our time on tackling new technical challenges rather than support.

  • We have multiple development domain teams with about 40 engineers in total splitted into the following teams - Data, 5 Back End, 3 Front End, and a Mobile. Every team is working on different functionalities of the features.

  • Our Architecture team has a bunch of experience and is always ready to help.

About the data team:

Our data team has built a data lake using Google Cloud Platform to make our own platform smarter with data-driven functionalities, such as:

  • An image recognition solution for the app, based on state-of-the-art deep learning models.

  • Data-driven customer segmentation using both statistical models and unsupervised ML algorithms.

  • Automated search relevance improvements derived from historical click data about customer interactions with search.

The data lake is intended as a self-service solution for our developers, our tenants, and their data analysts.

When you join us in the Data Engineer role, you will be working together with our data analysts and developers on these smart functionalities and ensuring that they are scalable and react in NRT.

Challenges for the data team:

  • Build a state-of-the-art experimentation platform (A/B testing, MAB testing).

  • Grow and mature the data platform for ease of use by anyone.

  • Create a data-driven decision intelligence framework.

  • Support business with (Data Science/Machine Learning) solutions they haven't thought of.

What keeps data engineers at Kramp Hub busy day-to-day:

  • Real-time (and batch), distributed transformation pipelines.

  • Modeling, handling, and serving large amounts of data.

  • Scheduling and orchestrating of data processes.

  • Data ingress and egress for machine learning systems.

Skillset you’d be bringing to the table:

Must have:

  • Solid Java (or any other JVM language) and its ecosystem experience, you must be very comfortable with it as it’s the daily driver of the team.

  • Experience in working in cloud environments (preferably GCP).

  • Experience in working with containerized applications using Docker (k8s knowledge is a plus).

  • Experience in writing complex SQL queries and using other SQL concepts.

  • Experience in writing ETL/ELT batch or streaming pipelines in Beam (main tool of the team), Spark, Flink, or any other data processing framework.

  • Experience using different types of storages relational, NoSQL databases.

  • Strong teaching skills and eagerness to teach developers data engineering.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in any other language is a huge plus, specifically Python.

  • Having back-end or front-end experience is a plus.

  • Experience with Airflow.

  • Experience with Kafka, Pulsar, or GCP Pubsub.

  • Understanding of gRPC/RESTful concepts regarding API development.
